In 2025, the NYC Karatedō International Championship will add kumite (sparring) events for the first time. Plans are still being formalized, but they will include:
November 9th, 2025 [Sunday]
- Youth Kumite (ages 8 to 11)
- Teen Kumite (ages 12+)
The rule-set will follow a point-fighting format, but take into account traditional concepts and the spirit and essence of authentic karatedō, while still providing an opportunity for competition.
